Uk Bob Will do. I'll reboot in safe mode and run the entire suite of apps and see what happens. Btw, I just ran Ad-Aware and it picked up SpyAxe. Trev |
Criminals target viruses for cash Trev Just to emphasise the points Grandpa and I have been making in this thread look at the news report, published by the BBC, that I have just come across. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4521844.stm It shows that we have not been blowing smoke at you, the dangers out there are real. I would not wish to appear biased towards any contributor here but in defence of Sphinx: I take a monthly computer magazine which features a helpdesk; you can’t help but notice that so many answers to readers’ problems is that they are running several virus protectors at the same time which is causing conflicts and hence the problem they writing about. Incidentally, the virus protector of choice at the moment is F-Secure, apparently one of the cheapest. I am in a bad position myself currently because I am running Windows 64-bit operating system and waiting for any protection by anybody to be released. |
Avast has a 64bit AV it has been available since version 4.5 you can get it at the link below. And if you would have read my post more clearly you would have noticed that i said you do not have to have them all running at the same time. Quote:

I have no problem with mine no do I believe that ukbobboy01 has any problem with his. |
Did not mean to disagree with what you said GP, must have expressed myself badly - I had read what you wrote about not running them all at the same time. Thank you for the info re Avast (Incidentally, Limewire transferred from 32-bit Windows XP Home to Windows 64-bit Professional without so much as a hiccup) |
Re: Criminals target viruses for cash UK Bob Never thought you were for a second. I appreciate all the help and advice I've been getting. I've tracked down and apparently eliminated quite a number of different nasties with the little suite of programs I've loaded and my system seems to be clean at the moment. As I said before, until I find a convincingly comprehensive all-in-one package, my assumption is I need the protection they provide so I'm content to run with the separates for now - arguments about the disadvantages of running too many programs at once notwithstanding. Thanks again. Trev It shows that we have not been blowing smoke at you, the dangers out there are real. UK Bob PS. Please pay special attention to the "PC Safety Tips". [/B][/QUOTE] |
