Limewire Poping Up Without Clicking on it
 

LMAO!!!!!! LIKE 4 DAYS AGO i had to keep installing it and uninstallling it because im on the interner searching some **** and than all of a sudden Limewire Pops up but than i dont know what i did and it stopped anywayz i jusyt wanted if this happened to anyone else

Sounds like a virus. The virus puts an item in your system startup items folder. See point #4 here WARNING: Viruses on network you should be aware of! (click on link)

i dotn have a virus i have Mc Afee QuickScan and theres no viruses detected heck i even did the slower one with norton anti virus and still nothing so i think that your theory for me is WRONG lmao :eek:

I've had the SAME problem. I don't know the source of it either. I'll try to close Limewire and it will close.. but 10 seconds later start up again for no apparent reason. I know for a fact it's not a virus. But something to do with Limewire itself. Some glitch? Or something I'm not getting.

It just opens up randomly and when you close it - pops back up again. Quite annoying.

Before you quit LW, control-alt-del & bring up task manager & see if there's more than one instance of LW listed as running. If there is, then that might be the reason. If it is, then search your computer using your comp search engine for LW & see if there's more than one copy. It's still possible to have 2 instances running even if you only have one copy by clicking on the shortcut too many times.

Just to double-check there's no viruses or anything, go to NorbiesWorld (click on link) & register there & use the Hijack This ... & post a report for him to deciphor. That'll give you the all clear or whatever ...

Hm, thanks man. I'll try it - but something weird - sometimes my Ctrl+Alt+Del won't work either. =\ I don't /think/ it's two versions running necessarily either... because I mean. Even if it were. I close them. I'd have closed both, but they keep popping up anyway.

I find the way to get rid of this problem is to restart my computer. It seems to go away for a while.

Despite the wanting to be a denial ... there's always the chance you do actually have a virus (or the after FX of one) but didn't realise it & your present protection didn't pick it up. Norbie will detect it if you're willing to have him check for you. I downlded from his site not only Hijack this ... but also utilities to check unnecessary files in the startup folder, etc. I also use ad-ware & spybot.

i am having the same problem when i clopser limewire and hit ctrl alt del something called ins is running i have no idea what that is and then limewire pops up again....... i can only see the ins things in the ctrl altdel menu if limwire is minimized or closed any help is very appericated b/c it is really irritating now =/ tks in advance
