limewire has taken over

I downloaded the latest free version of limewire 4. something. Everything seemed to be going well at first. Then first I couldnt get into my registry. Limewire seemed to freeze up. I tried to close it would close. I tried ctrl alt del and that didn't work. I rebooted and limewire opens automaticlly now. I close it and it reopens 10 seconds later. It keeps opening on its own accord. I tried changing setting not to connect automatically and not to open a startup but did do a bit of good. system restore is a great feature and the only one that had any affect. I would like to download the program again. I was having so much fun with it but the risk factor has me a little skeptical. Any input would be greatly appreciated. thanks for reading this post.

Sounds like you had a virus. You should have a look at this thread: WARNING: Viruses on network you should be aware of!. Especially part 4.

You should also be aware of file sizes. Do not download files smaller than 1MB(1000KB). Files this small are usually viruses. So always have your anti-virus program running and upto date, and scan files before running them.
