The Pro version does not give you more rights on the files you download or upload from/to Internet. The Pro gives you advantages on using the software legally with added bonus (on performance, and on support options) on with legal contents (such as those with a legal free licence).

But most importantly the Pro version helps financing the development of LimeWire with a continued working team that will make further searches in P2P technologies, and with the integration of more features in further releases. By your participation, you help getting better software over time. So most of your purchase is in fact a donation to support the software, and to help defending legally the freedom of speech on Internet which is under the threat of major companies that are attempting to require expensive DRM and spying tools even on free content.

When you buy Pro, you provide ways for LimeWire to defenditself against illegitimate legal commercial claims on a technology that has been developed under fair free licences. Without the support of companies like Limewire that want to protect your legitimate rights and the right to competition for the benefits of consumers, the net will be fully controiled by very powerful telcos and media distribution groups, whose constant aggregation restricts the available choice, the diversity of legal contents, and that would finally cause increase of price, and would finally permanently put permanent control on private life, and would generalize the use of content filters (=censorship) worldwide.

Limewire is among the small companies that want toprotect the diversity, and freedom for innovation, independantly of major companies. I still recommand buying Pro to support independant development, and as well contribute to open-source softwares, donate to independant organizations that militate to protect your privacy and freedom of choice. The principles is that if you like such independant development for the benefits you get from it, it's important to donate to make this independant activity continue.
