Mp3, .Wma and M4a's on an Ipod

Can I put all three of these types of files on an Ipod or play them in a DVD player and they will just play just as if they are Mp3's?

Or should I always keep the same format for my devices? When I am using them on my computer, the m4a's seem to want to play in my Winamp and the other two will open up in Windows Media player.

So what's the best? I wouldn't want to put a mixed media on a CD then have it stop on a song that is a different format so I will have wasted the copy.

i'm with ..Hobo, but

if what you are saying is: you don't burn cd's for your friends?
oh o.k....

there's loads of info in this forum for your questions. but if you want a specific response, don't ever say you won't give music away in a p2p filesharing program. you might search on freeloaders.
just to give you the benefit of the doubt, i think you have to have i-tunes for i-pod. it converts ext for the i-pod.

I did not say anything about friends and sharing. Where did that come from!

I want to know about different formats that Limewire is giving me.

I use my music to practice my guitar, piano and harmonica. My songs never leave my house. That is the only reason that I use the songs.

I am a musican and an entertainer. I don't use the music at my entertaining gigs.

This forum is for questions and answers. I have a question and I am looking for an answer. Simple.

If you don't want to answer the question or answer the question correctly then don't bother. Simple.

Still don't know how we got off on this friends and sharing subject. Please explain.

For the original thread question, see audio formats supported here http://www.apple.com/ipod/specs.html wma & wmv are not supported. Since apple co-produced the m4a format, it's not surprising it is supported on an iPod.

No, I do have a share file but I do not make cds for others, sell music. I only us it for myself. I have a share file which is shared by Limewire users.

What the hell are you guys getting at?

Besides this question is about this new subject. Why are you referring back to some other thread?

Answer the question asked. Don't refer back to something else.

Wow!
