avi codec problems

short and sweet.... i can watch an mpeg but everytime i download an avi file i get a downloading codec error message, what can i do to fix this? i use windows media player if that helps.

Hi there

I use the free VLC media player from Download.com, so far it has played everything from Limewire and seems to have all the codes built in.
