MP4 to MP3 Hi there I have a folder of MP4a files (not sure how I managed to get that format) that I need to convert to MP3 to load onto a mobile phone. Any suggestions all I can find on search is burning MP4 as MP3 onto a CD Cheers xxxDxxx |
Hello there you, Coming to my rescue again ! I can see on iTunes how to burn the files to MP3 but not how just to convert them. Any ideas on how to do that, I think I may be being a bit blonde about this ! xxxDxx |
Thanks, will give it a try tonight, hopefull the ice will be melting in my glass before long. xxxDxxx |
Under normal circumstances, if I may comment, nobody would want to be converting from mp3 to m4a or vice versa. These are both lossy formats meaning they throw away information to help reduce in size. So if you have a bottle of Baileys & poor a full glass worth down the toilet, then you have left a compressed audio file namely mp4 or mp3. So if you convert them again, then that's another glass or so wasted. lol :D If you only downlded them with the sole intention of copying to mobile phone I don't suppose it matters since the quality of mobile phone listen-ability isn't worth worrying about. |
Thanks for the input, nice analogy Mr Lord I just bought a V3i phone and though I may as well put some tunes on, it only accepts MP3. Thats the only reason why. I don't expect much from the quality ! I can assure you none of my Baileys will be wasted ! xxxDxxx |
Mmmmwwwaaahhh x Hobo Worked a treat, feet up Baileys, deepest joy Thanks lots xxxDxxx |
Personally, I like M4a's and will convert any MP3 to M4a format even if their is a loss of quality. The songs that I have converted still sound good in stereo headphones. :D Dead & Bloated |
Hi there Whitney I don't have a choice of file type, I bought a Motorola V3i (saves having an MP3 player & a phone to cary about) and the instructions told me to load only MP3 files. It has a digital player and so far I am very impressed with the sound quality. xxxDxxx |

But if you're happy with it, then that's fine. I'd just suggest you don't re-share your re-converted files. That "would" be unfair to those who are looking for reasonable quality files to get a hold of. Share your originals instead. (hint) ;) |
hi there I have the originals saved in my iPod shared file. I get what you are saying about the quality but isorry, it's all a bit lost on me really I just like a bop about while I dust ! xxxDxxx |
Hi there Hobo Sviatoslav Richter is all very well and good, but everyone knows you need Wham for dusting, now thats quality ;) xxxDxxx |

When you're getting bootlegs of concert performances that have not been released on cd and probably never will be (except for Hendrix... his family appears to be trying to release everything he ever recorded no matter how bad the quality might be) then the quality is not great to begin with. As for sharing originals, I would not waste my time making an M4a (using itunes) from a cd and then converting it to an mp3 so no worries there. (hint) Dead & Bloated |
a question, Lord... that conversion business.. loss of quality. does that include automatic conversion by the media player? ie: when i download m4a, aac, wma, etc, import to realplayer & burn to cd. it converts all to mp3. or, is it just manually converting like in i-tunes (..Hobo)? p.s. got all security squared away, and new router set up.:D |
