You have to be really careful with what you download (specially programs), there are lots of junk & infected files around now. See here for virus info:

Be wary of exe & zip files Make sure you've got a good AV program & keep it updated. Spyware & adware programs are a good idea, too. Scan files before opening!

Unfortunately, LW can't control what people share - good or bad. After a while, you'll get to know what looks suspicious. You can always use the junk filter to mark files that look weird (no bitrate, ALL CAPS, L_I_K_E T_H_I_S etc).
