Get a shareware called GraphicConverter or similar. Since this forum disallows talk of pirating, we can not expand much further on your question except offer alternatives.

thanks for that idea, ill look into it. I'm not looking to do anything illegal or to pirate anything. I just want to be able to watch the movies i download on limewire. It doesnt seem normal that all teh videos are in the jasc format and im wondering what to do. any advice is appreciated.

does anyone know why they are all in jasc format? it seems like there should be at least a few in other formats.

Because the since that program can handle quite a few formats of video, it decided to make itself the default of all of them. Nice of it wasn't it!? That's something I 'don't' like about some windows programs, that they make themselves the default without even asking or making it blinking obvious of the change.

To watch videos from LW, get VLC - (click on link) _ (choose nearest mirror site) as it has in-built codecs & is 'generally' very reliable. To see what it can do see http://www.videolan.org/vlc/features.html & you can view video & audio streams & change skins.

See Setting Default video app to solve that issue! to change all the video formats over to VLC ;) Change all the formats that are listed in the features list (well perhaps not audio but you know what I mean.)
