limewire rip?
 

It seems like LimeWire has become a good source of income for other people than the ones who actually wrote it (or I am missing something).

The program featured on that site and other clients (like "eTomi Pro") seem to be imitations (modified versions I think) of LimeWire (Pro probably, gotten in a less legal way).

Does anyone know anything about this? If not, can someone try to find out about it?

See Known Scam Sites (click on link) as this lists those scam sites. Damned xxxx, yes the best way is to report them to the authorities. LW is open source which also means anybody can put together their own version & variations & use it. Unfortunately, some of these have used them for scam versions. 360share, etomi & Acquisition are examples of these. Who abuse the open source protocol & then sell it to whoever will buy it. These people close their source so it's not open source. Even though they ripped 99.5% of the programming off LW.

But then there's just blatent scam sites who charge people money & then direct them to the LW basic (free) version downld page.
