Lime Wire very slow

When I downloaded the free version of Limewire the first couple of times I used it performance was great. Now the program is extremely slow when I open it but the downloading is fine. My computer is very quick:

80GB hard drive
1.87GHZ pentium M
2GB ram
Windows XP SP2

Any sugestions? Do I have to suck it up and pay for pro?
