Okay, this is a hypothetical question... if you download music but don't SHARE it (you turn off the share option), is that against the law?? Please don't lock this thread, or at least let me get an answer...

It depends where you live. The laws vary by country. You can use the forums search function to find more information on this topic as it has been covered many times. The search button is in the upper right of this page between f.a.q. and home.

The question tells us nothing.

If your going to download from others then surely its polite to allow them to download from you, fairs fair huh?

I live in the US also so you have to decide for your self what your comfortable with. There are files that are legal to d/l but I'm not sure how to find them plus they're probably buy people you've never heard of.

I personally don't spend much time worrying about getting caught. I wonder more about if my isp is going to start filtering or blocking p2p. But that's me:).
