New Stereo Won't Play My Burned CDs
 

Hello there folks,

It has sure been a while since I've been here with a problem, but I just can't seem to figure out the answer. It has nothing to do with the Limewire software or Windows, I don't think.

I just purchased a home theater system from eBay (to go with my huge 21 inch TV LOL). It is a Venturer system. On the box it has these displayed:

Compact Disc Digital Audeo
Video Player for Playback of Region 1
DTS Digital Out
Dolby Digital Decoder.

The problem is that it will not play any of my CDs that I've burned. I'm using Nero 6 OEM. I choose "Audio CD" when I burn. They play fine on my other CD player. The new one will play my regular CDs however.

Does anyone have any idea what is happening with this?

The only reason I can come up with is that it doesn't support the cd-r or cd-rw type of disk that you are using, which BTW I thought was a problem of the past

you should try using another type of disk and burning at very low speed before throwing it in the garbage though. There are a few of these new players that don't read cd-rw well but will read cd-r

Hey thanks Sleepless. I'll give it a try. I've just about run out of CDs anyway. I only use the CD-R and they're by TDK. I was getting annoyed though because I thought it had to do with the Codecs or something like that.

Verbatim and Maxell cd's are usually compatible with everything. Side note: Alot of times CD-RW's will not be compatible with CD players outside of the computer realm. So stick with CD-R's for recording discs that you will use elsewhere.

Hey thanks for the reply, but I just don't understand. I haven't used Verbatim and Maxell though, I've only used TDK and Memorex. I've only used CD-Rs, so that's not it. Well, it's a good thing I saved my other little system. That plays 3 CDs anyway. The new gizmo only plays one at a time. It just really bugs me. With all the crap that manufacturers are putting in their products, you just never know. I'm still open to suggestions - anyone wanna buy a home theater system cheap??!

not garunteed idk for a fact btu i believe the player must say it is also mp3 compatable. usually what u burn on cds are mp3 files

Venturer the problem, not the cd's
 

Venturer, a brand sold at the local wal-mart, does not support the + or - formats of burned cd's very well, if at all.

I know for 2 reasons, one, my nephew has one and it doesnt support it, and two, I work at a wal-mart.

When buying stereo equipment, one should be sure to look and see if its compatible with the + or - cdr or cdrw. There's a VERY good chance that yours does not support either format, just plain old CD.

I know it doesn't help your situation, but it does explain it.

read a little closer...u2btrfly stated quite specifically that she burned audio cds...she obviously has some grey matter between her ears, and can properly burn the appropriate type of cd for the intended player...

Wallylama most likely hit the nail squarely on the head and slammed it home with one swing IMO...

The low end stuff will bit you in the ***. This stuff will not support anything but redbook cd's period.

Sorry but you needed to buy 'UP' the electronic food chain a bit. It still goes, you get what you pay for.

Thanks for the reply and yes, I do think Wallylama hit right on the reason. Um, I guess I just didn't look closely enough and I did buy it on eBay, which is not too specific as to the box labels.

Peerless, thanks for the heads-up.http://smily.hit.bg/comfort.gif Oh well, if life hands me a lemon, at least I remembered the iced-tea - I've still got my little Sharp deskshelf CD and Tuner to play my audio cd's and I do like that it plays it plays three instead of just one at the same time. And the Venturer does hava a good DVD player and the price was right. Can't afford to go too much up the electronics ladder - shoot, I'm typing on an old Gateway with Win98SE. But, it, too is getting along just fine for now, since last July even.
