Song search help

I've been searching for years for a song from the 70's - I can only remember the two lines: "Why, tell me why, am I too big to cry" and " O red rover, I'm not over you now." The song was similar in style to Frankie Vallie & Four Seasons. I have searched Google, some lyric search sites and asked radio DJ's.
