Serious User Warning

Beware!

The MPAA (Motion Picture Assoc.), being represented by Loeb & Loeb, are attaining IP's in waves of 100 at a time.
They have permission from a Federal Court to get your personal information from your service provider, which WILL give it up, i.e. your name and address.
They will then send you a package listing your offense (what movie/movies you were sharing or downloading when your IP was observed).
Your name will also appear in a lawsuit.
When you contact them they will offer to settle for $2000 per offense.
When you settle, which you will, you can pay $200 per month for 10 month's.
Trust me.
My first payment goes out Monday.
The time span is about 3 weeks. It happen's quick.

In case you are wondering, at the time i was busted, i was only using Limewire.

Play at your own risk.

Peace

Uhhuh, this has been going on for years, ever since Napster. Nothing new. They have your IP address as soon as you login to download or are you so new you didnt know that? Dont preach about it, its already been said. YOU USE it at your own risk, IVE been using P2P for years. what a waste of space this topic is.

cheers.

Did i say i was unaware this could happen?.
I don't believe i did.
This is just a CURRENT warning to user's alittle less enlightened than yourself, being the all- knowing expert you are.

How many files did they get you for and how many files do you share through your Limewire....

apostibo March 4th, 2006 12:02 AM

They got me for one thankfully.
In the first package they sent the offenses of the other 99 in my wave. One i saw had 16 movies.Poor fella.

I love Limewire but i no longer use it.I use other means.

As Sphinx said this topic has been discussed before...But I haven't ever spoken to someone who actually got busted.....
So were you only sharing the one file????

apostibo March 4th, 2006 12:11 AM

I'm sure it has.
I just wanted to give some first-hand knowledge.
I was sharing many files, just one movie.
They don't specify if you were uploading or downloading, so i'm not sure when it happened.
But they do refer to your "so-called "Shared" files".
