Default LimeWire pro "faster download speeds"

I wonder how LimeWire Pro archives this. I´ve read that it "connects to more sources" and has "turbo-accelerated download speeds". So which sources does it connect to which the basic version doesn´t?
Can somebody explain this a little bit.

Thanks in advance for your help

The jargon sounds better than what it really is. But yes, it is true that there is improvement in performance. But some people won't notice the difference as the differences are NOT dramatic but subtle.

LW Basic connects to 3 ultrapeers. Pro connects to 5, allowing a greater ability to find sources around the network. This is most helpful for rarer files, but for common files it doesn't mean much.

LW Basic can downld from a maximum of 8 hosts per downld. Whereas Pro's max is 10 (on condition you have a minimum of 10 downld slots set in your options & are available.) Generally downlding from more hosts means faster downlds & more reliable connection.

The turbo connection can be achieved on Basic, but Pro offers it all the time on condition you don't have firewall issues. (ie: setting up firewall & modem/router details here Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link))

Dial up users would notice no difference with Pro. Pro is recommended for those with adsl or faster. The faster your connection then the more you'll notice the difference. I have slow adsl but I notice the difference.

Thanks for your explanation.
I wonder why the number of hosts per download is limited at all on pro. Do you know why? Programs like eMule download from as many sources they find. While it makes sense to limit this for a "free" version it doesn´t mnake sense in pro IMHO.

Different networks have different characteristics & have their own problems such as queueing.

The reason downld hosts is limited is to keep those hosts upload slots available for other people. Otherwise a few would downld from 10's of hosts but other people may find they can't connect to the same file hosts because there's no available slots. So it's basically to keep all things in balance. I hope you understand the concept. Gnutella's development is to try to keep things flowing so people are able to connect quickly, to find search results quickly, to downld at reasonable speeds, to connect to hosts for downlds without being continually plagued by "Busy Hosts". I believe WinMX suffers this issue where people may have to wait a long time in a queue to get files. That's something gnutella tries to avoid by keeping downld slots limited. So then there's a fair share to go around.
