It sounds like you've recently installed something that has changed the defaults to a lot of files. You need to look at undoing this. I had a similar issue when I installed a unzipper/zipper type of program & it changed the icon of LW to that of its own. lol :D I'm guessing you're a windows user right? You didn't specify. |
yea im a xp user, only thing i did was install adobe reader acrobat and i erased it, yet still in affect and i cant restore cuz.. i disabled system restore like a year ago. lol.. |
Well perhaps, 1. delete your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included bottom of page.) 2. Reinstall LW using the "Offline" installer http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml |
. cant tho cause i cant install limewirepro without id and i dont remember it,.. |
. im right clickin limewire stuff and it says open with, look for internet to find right file or select from list, it cant find notin on net, what do ipick for it to open it? like paint etc notepad abunch of stuff there what opens lw |
1 Attachment(s) Open it from your Start menu -> Programs > LW menu For pro, if you purchased it less than 6 mths ago then you can still get updates. You can check your payment details as that will have a phone no. you can use to contact LW sales to sort out your email issue. But if you purchased more than 6 mths ago then your name will no longer be on their database. Does the short-cut have a different icon or does the program also have a different icon. Check the actual program. Generally found in C:\Program Files\Limewire If it doesn't, then your shortcuts might be corrupt. Delete them & recreate them. If it does have a different icon, then find info about it. Select it, go to File menu ->Properties & check what it says about type of file or what program opens it. Then hopefully you can find the culprit that's affected LW. But I'm wondering if you're trying to open the incorrect file. In the example below, you'll see there's only one true program in the LW program folder. It is the smaller one (no. #1.) Whereas the large one is actually some form of Java support. You'll notice a variety of assorted icon types in there. |
1 Attachment(s) The one that's marked as no. 1 is the program. That's the one you should open. If you go to properties (right-click if you like) you'll see the difference. The program doesn't have any option for "Open with ..." |
So it sounds like you may need to delete & then recreate your shortcuts for this 80 KB file. The one with the "1." beside it in the list of program items. |
