How can one be tracked for downloading stuff that is available? Also, when is it illegal? Is it illegal to download, or to share the stuff that is available, ie... copy righted stuff. Thanks

Yes one can be tracked, there are ways of making it more dificult for trackers

It is illegal to download or make available for sharing anything that has copyright declared on it, in my country (unless more than 50 years old), it varies from country to country.

For music, if you live in Canada like I do, don't bother getting iTunes for downloading music, LimeWire is just fine :) :p
