files with virus hi, can you tell me anything i should do if i have found a file containing a virus, i downloaded one but scanned it before opening and deleted it safely, i reported it to bitzi, but wondered if there is anything else i can do to stop people using it, i know i cannot mention specific names of programms i down load. sorry if this sounds a bit daft, bear with me im just learning |
Reporting it on bitzi is probably the best way to warn others. Another thing is to learn the most common viruses and avoid downloading them. This way you won't share them with others and unknowingly help spread them across the network. This thread has a lot of info about viruses on the network http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showthread.php?t=41432 Then just keep your av updated and scan your files:). |
thanx for you comments, the one in question wasnt any of the known sizes, and had no information on bitzi, i will still be much more careful in future tho. |
I know you guys said that the smaller files like the 399kb had viruses, but I was wondering if the files that are very large (ex. 13,000 kb for a 5 minute song when the rest of the search results show like 4000 kb) may have viruses? |
Check the bitrate. The bitrate affects the size of the file. The higher the bitrate the larger the file and also the better the quality. Some music files are over 10000KB, but it's always a good idea to scan your files before you open them just to be safe. |
