Greatest Zombie Movie of All Time? I was just curious what everyone/anyone's fave zombie movie was....mine is either Evil Dead 2 or Dawn of the Dead (original) :D |
you dead right pardon the pun,Evil Dead is the biz!!!!!!!!!!! scary when i saw it as kid but absilutely hilarious now |
Yeah - love Bruce Campbell |
yeah i agree but he lost the plot a bit with some of the stuff he done afterwards, anyway keep the undead alive!!!!!!!!! p.s.what about the more modern zombie flicks ,28 Days is probably the best of the lot !?Chow for now |
I haven't seen 28 Days....never looked that interesting, but I've been wrong before! (didn't think much of The Matrix until I actually saw the whole movie) |
28 Days 28 days later is definitely worth an hour or two of your life. After all, it's British - how crap can it be? (Obviously this is a rhetorical question and is n_o_t inviting a deluge of sarcasm about the Brits or the British film industry as a whole). So there. It's a cracking film - lots of suspense and overacting. All you could want from a Zombie-flick. Plus a road trip in a black cab. Blimey, I'm gonna do a search this instant |
yeah its well worth the look all the undead madness without the flesheating !!!!!!!!the new george romero flick (day of the dead) is worth the effort too if only for the presence of Dennis Hopper, special effects are superb but on a lighter side Sean of the Dead is most certainly a top scorer!Absolutely hilarious!!!!! enjoy |
not zombies Hang on a minute, what am I talking about...? 28 days later isn't a zombie movie. They're not risen dead, just enraged lurching psychopaths. Clearly not the appropriate genre. Apologies for lurching off topic |
I'm not into zombie movies as a rule b/c most look so unconvincing (eg: as convincing as werewolf movies.) I do love horror movies though!!! As far as Evil Dead went, the 1st was the best for me. Despite it was made a long time ago on a very small budget with amatuer like actors, it was certainly effective & fun to watch when it came out. Evil Dead 2 I guess wasn't too bad. But the editons that followed were a joke. Trying to bank on the surprise popularity of the very 1st version. Edit: I do have copies of Evil Dead 1 & I might have 2 also. But my horror vid collection is a wide assortment I guess. If only my partner was keener to watch them. :D Who is Steven King? |
Ahhh, now Steven King is one of the best...A few years ago I started a collection of his videos through Time Life and I must say that IT kept me on the edge of my seat, but Misery is one of my favourites..... |
"Here's Johnny" Stanley Kubrick directed movie written by Stephen King ... the Shining Jack Nicholson an early effort not to be ignored!!! ;) :p |
Yes cant forget The Shinning it was one of his best as well, the list is endless....Also in many of his movies he does a Cameo appearance.... He also writes under the name of Richard Bachmann...;) |
Wow, didn't think I'd get this much talk about my little subject, lol. The only Steven King movies I like are 'The Shining' (original of course) and 'Christine'. To be honest I'm not a fan of horror movies in general, especially ones that have been done since the 90's....something was just....lost...after the 80's, never really scared me. The movie that scared me the most (not because it was frighteningly stupid) was the 1954 classic 'THEM!', about giant ants terrorizing New Mexico and later Los Angeles. This will probably make alot of people laugh at me, but I first saw the movie when I was about 6 years old, and (for 1954) it is SO well done. Still my favorite old sci-fi/horror movie. |
The movies that scared me the most when I was a kid were Friday the 13th... But only 1 and 2 the rest that followed were crap.... But I recently watched an Aussie film that was based on a true story called Wolf Creek that freaked me out a bit....You know when you sit there saying run run, no not that way....LOL :D |
Kinda liked the "Dawn Of The Dead" remake, but am not really into zombies. "Saw" 1 and 2, "Hostel" (Quentin Tarantino), "The Amityville Horror", and "The Devils Rejects" are creepy as hell As a kid Texas Chainsaw Massacre (Should have waited a few years :)) |
I LOVED Captain Spaulding from House of 1,000 Corpses (only reason to watch the movie). The Saw movies don't even look interesting to me. I think the next great zombie flick should be more of a search-and-destroy operation, rather than getting holed up somewhere and trying to survive the undead onslaught.....any ideas/comments on that? |
The Saw movies didn't look interesting to me before I watched them. You should give them a try. The second one I was just going to preview after getting it, but ended up watching the whole movie and being late for school |
I enjoyed Saw1, Im still yet to watch the 2nd...Also I want to see Hostel, sounds like a good movie, I like Tarantino..... I also really enjoy the supernatural thrillers like the Omen, that was a good movie...;) |
The Ring 1 and 2 very creepy as well (Really important to watch the short film "Rings" before watching number two) If you can't get it I suggest renting the DVD. Still sends chills down my spine when she's "crawling?" up the side of the well  |
Excellent links LOTR, I had forgotten some of the movies that were listed... Ahh the memories....;) |
yes, fantastic links very well done, me Lord great to see all the old classics the ones that frightened us so much as kids even Pumpkin Head made a appearance (bit naff ,even in its day but quite funny).I am suprised no-one has mentioned Peter Jackson,s first adventures in filmmaking Bad Taste(especially you LOTR),hilariously funny yet quite sickening to boot,ah the heady days of the mid-eighties going to the video store and renting 5 horrors and spending the weekend scaring the bejesus out of ourselves!!!!!!!! sorry i am rambling!!!!! pooh74 |
On the subject of Peter Jackson, anyone seen Dead Alive aka Braindead? I of course can't find it at my main movie rental place. |
