Paid But Shouldn't Have

Hi,
I found Limewire while searching for a file sharing program (After WinMX closed down), and found Limewire. This was in November. If I recall correctly, you could get the free download which included limited file sharing, OR you could purchase 1 or 2 year subscriptions. I thought that I had to purchase the program, and bought the 2 year subscription for $34.95. Paid through PayPal, payment to "ClickBank", on 11/16/2005, and all was well. Then my computer crashed over Christmas, and I had to start over. When I put everything back in the computer, I didn't have to enter anything in to get the Limewire hooked back up - just assumed that there were "cookies" still on the hard drive somewhere, that enabled the connection with my account.

In talking to a friend who downloaded Limewire FOR FREE and has been downloading songs like crazy, I feel like I was taken. Of course, there is NO way of contacting Limewire - ANY IDEA how I can resolve this? ANYONE?! Anyone know how to contact Limewire?????

It's a great service, Just don't know why I had to pay - ALOT.

Thanks - Donna

I see you have eventually found the thread that deals with this topic. I'm sorry to hear of your dilemna. We live & learn everyday. At least you know reliably now LW is free. If you had have found out earlier, something might have been done. There's still the chance you could claim refund thru your bank but getting more difficult now. Contact pay-pal.

If you're your payment was via a credit card co. then I believe there'd be a better chance of a reimbursement. Most CC co's have special depts that deal with scams, etc. so lodging a complaint thru them that you were scammed & didn't get what you paid for might gain some territory. Even after this time. You can say you only became aware of it which is true! ;) (It was a few months before I found out my card had been compromised) ... I was refunded after my complaint had been verified. (I bought concert tickets to pink floyd concert thru the official agency ... after that my card had been charged twice by unknown to unknown for unknown.) Hmm! There's still a chance if you investigate.
