incomplete folder....

On the same note...I was downloading three episodes of a TV show but when I looked in my incomplete folder I saw 3 or 4 other files that did not show up in my current download window with the three shows....they had long names like:

ffjfjdjhsofpoflgjkjddh.kdjd.shjdbudhjhf (just an example...not really a file name)

and when I tried to delete them it said they were "in use"....nor would they open...so I turned off LW and restarted it....they were gone...

what were they? I use LW Pro...thanks

If you previewed any files it will leave a copy of the previewed part in the incomplete folder. It will have a long number in front of it and the file will be in red. You can safely delete those files.

If you had trouble deleting them it could be that you need to clear the files from your media player first. It may be detecting them as being in use.

That makes perfect sense...and yes, the filenames were in red...

I get very paranoid about files I did not specifically download and don't know what they are......I had a couple of viruses in the past and trojans that my Norton could not get rid of....I ended up just picking up a new hard drive....I am convinced they came from P2P...then again, I am far from an expert...these could have slipped in inbetween Norton virus definition updates

Hi Gordito,

There are plenty of viruses on p2p. If you haven't been there already, this thread has a lot of info on viruses being shared on LW: WARNING: Viruses on network you should be aware of!
