Chat partner requested my id???

Hey guys,

yesterday somebody tried to chat with me..after a short "hi, how you're doin'?" he asked for my id
...so I immediately stopped the chat...Well, this made me a little bit insecure. Has somebody else experienced something like that? Does somebody has a explanation?

I would also feel a little uneasy about requests for names. 1st names perhaps but nothing more. I think someone did ask my name once.

he did not just ask for my name (what would be a normal, friendly chat-question), it was more like: name & adress etc.

That's what makes me kind of wondering...

That is totally out of order. Could be someone being excessively over friendly, but I'm suspiscious it could be someone with bad intentions .. They could equally have asked for your e-mail address and could track you down with that. I gve out my country sometimes .. perhaps a first name ..that's it.

So you could be chatting with anybody in the world?

Exactly. Even the fed's or whatever you want to call them. Perhaps a molestor also. Just be wary if they start wanting to find out who you are. Speaking about hobbies, interests, etc. is no problem. Just be wary if they want to find out who you are or show signs of such.
