Unable to copy some mp3 from LW to itunes Hi, I downloaded some songs and an audio book (angels and demons) from LW. I am able to copy the songs to itunes and it plays well both in LW and itunes media player. My ipod has these songs now Audibook plays well in the LW and when I try to copy to itunes nothing happens : Have have tried almost every option: 1. Drag and drop 2. Open the file thru itunes (nothing happens) 3. Saving the playlist in LW and importing to itunes (playlist is imported but nothing is there in the playlist). I am confused what to do, I am desparately looking for help from someone so that I can start going thru demons and angels in my ipod Pl. help. FYI, this audiobook which is playing fine in LW is giving "Cannot play back the file. The format is not supported." error in Windows Media Player. |
Hi, I am using Windows, the format of the file is MPEG Layer 3 (mp3). I checked this by seeing the properties of the file. As I write I am playing this file in LW and it is playing perfectly fine. I want to load this to ipod but am unable to copy this to itunes. Pl suggest |
Hi, I went to the site and downloaded various MP3 encoders. To my dismay I could no tfind the one which takes mp3 as i/p and gives mp3 as output (basically which does some correction). All of them either take wav or some other file format as i/p. I am confused what to to do and how to load the audio bool into my IPOD. I wish I could give up on the downloaded mp3 audiobook (DEMONS and ANGELS).. Please help |
Are you sure the particular files are not being copied to iPod? Recheck! They may be under a totally different section (such as audio books or simply in the main library section) Some links about audiobook formats & issues: http://aldoblog.com/blog/494 http://aldoblog.com/blog/471 http://www.gudlyf.com/archives/2004/...diobook-issue/ http://www.audiobooksforfree.com/xMP3/default.asp |
I will go thru the links. Perhaps you didnot get what I have been saying. I have downloaded the audiobook that plays well in limewire but I am not able to put that into itunes. I have tried all the possible methods. Plese see the original post and subsequent replies for details. I will Copy to IPOD will be done after it is seen in itunes.. |

Get http://audacity.sourceforge.net/windows.php which is an audio editor. It can open mp3's, etc. What you could do is convert to WAV using Audacity. Then import that WAV file to iTunes. Then convert to either mp3 or apple lossless format or AAC. Then import to your iPod. |
I went thru the links... no luck... audiobook continue to play fine on LW but importing/copying to itunes is not working... it is not atall pleasing listening to it on my pc rather than ipod.. pl help |
Did you convert the audiobook to WAV using Audacity? ie: open the audiobook with Audacity & then go to File menu & choose Export to WAV. Did you try to play the file with Audacity to see if it can play it? After converting to WAV, then add it to iTunes. |
I am tring that currently... export to WAV is taking YEARS... Not audacity's problem :).. I have fed in a 50 MB file :):) will keep you posted. Atleast now I have a ray of hope... |
It's just crossed my mind that the reason iTunes couldn't play it is because it was converted to a format quality that iTunes isn't catered to play perhaps. I'm not sure what iTunes limits are. But perhaps it's been converted to a Sample Size like 4 bit which iTunes doesn't have the ability to convert to & perhaps not the ability to play. I am aware many audiobooks are converted to very low bit rates so perhaps this person reduced the sample size also which maybe iTunes can't handle. Converting to WAV should fix that issue with any luck! ;) If not, we'll need to check what it's sample size is just to be sure in case it also needs to be converted. By default WAV's sample size is 16 bit |
BINGO !!!!!!:) :) :) :) IT WORKED THANKS A TON LOTR and OAH... Thanksagain.. As I write I am listening to the ANGELS and DEMONS on my IPOD... Thanks dude :) |
Glad to hear! Thanks for letting us know it worked! :) ;) |
I forgot to mention, you can also normalise the audio piece with Audacity in case the volume level is relatively low. Normalisation is increasing the volume level up to the highest "safe" level with the loudest part of the audio section kept in the safe area without distortion or clicking. There's also other filters you can use, but you should always keep a backup of the original just in case of errors. At least then if you make a mistake you can start again whilst still keeping a backup. This is not important though & should only be applied in exceptional circumstances. I use an audio program where I can set the maximum % of normalisation (eg: 80%.) I find that's safer whereas most audio programs can only offer the 100% mark of normalisation. |
