Help!!!REALLY stuck
 

My save folder in limewire dissappeared and now every time I turn on comp a msg comes up from limewire telling me some of my necessary files are corrupt and I should try downloading limewire again. How do I do this without paying for it again? When my husband joined he put in the wrong email adddress so I cannot get support from limewire as they want the address you used to join and he cant remember it. I havent got a clue!!!!!!!!!!!!:eek:

Sorry but I don't know that there's much you can really do. Did you save the link to your Pro personal download page (your husband might've saved it?) Have you still got the Pro installer somewhere on your computer?

Did you pay $US18.88 for LW Pro from www.limewire.com less than 6 months ago? Basic LW is free. If you paid for anything else then I'm afraid you got scammed.

If you did buy the legitimate Pro less than 6 months ago, you might find a link here to help but I think it's a long shot if you don't know the email address used to purchase:(

Thanks.I think he paid something like £32.00 in the end and its been working fine until recently.It still works to a degree but we cant find the save file and now this other msg keeps coming up. He wouldnt have saved anything coz he knows less than me about computers and I only know what I teach myself by messing around. Would I be better just re downloading the free version?

That was definitely a scam then, you might've even paid for the free version. It happens. How long ago did you buy & can you remember where from? If you bought fairly recently you may still be able to get your money back. Some info here

You can download the free version from the link in my last post. If you're happy & have no probs with it, you can always go for Pro later:)

Dont know what site he bought it off. He typed in i tunes on google and thats what he came up with. Although I know very little I did try to tell him to be careful what he was doing. I think it was over 6 months now. You def seem to know what you're doing. I'll try the link in the last post. Do I uninstall the old one? God I'm a pain!!!

Yes because you don't know how adapted that program might have been. It may even include spyware, etc. Be safer to use the official version from LW.org here http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml

To uninstall the previous version, go to Start menu >Programs > Limewire > Uninstaller

If you can't find it there then find the program folder & you should be able to find an uninstaller inside it.

Members who have less than 30 posts are automatically assigned as Junior Member. Those with 30 or more as Members, & those with 100 or more as Senior Members. ;)

Hello I'm back! I have uninstalled the old version and re installed the new one from the link. My shared folder has come back but in shared is my documents and settings with files off my computer???? I mudt have done this in the installation but how do I get rid of it???? I think I need a slap.:o

Do you mean you are sharing too much?

Go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Sharing & clear the folders you don't wish to share. Then add the correct ones you wish to share. Press Apply when you've finished.
