The Reason Artists On iPods Appear More Than Once
 

I just realized this. The names on iPods/iTunes are case sensitive. Even a space is considered a character. So, (Jay-Z) would be different than
(Jay-Z ), with the extra space in the end of the name. So, if you're having these problems, check the artists in your iTunes that appear more than once, and make sure there's no space. It just worked for me, and should work for you.

I noticed the same thing not so long ago. That's why some people find they get artists being listed in different locations. I'm not so sure about case sensitive but certainly the space at the end, etc. makes all the difference.

Yeah, thie entire time I thought the reason was I didnt have an album listed for that song, so I found the name and wrote it for like 100 songs, but this was easier.

Easiest way is to select all artist or album titles you want to change whilst holding down the SHIFT key for multiple selections. Then Control - i to get info & change the detail. I'm sure you used that technique but thought I'd suggest it anyway. Just faster than doing it one by one.

Good idea. But that'd be pointless for me since I keep like one or two songs from each album. I don't keep every song from an album in my collection, just the ones I like

k ... yeah for me I may have hundreds of one artist ... such as rare live recordings, etc. :D
