Is my junk filter even working?

I've had Limewire for well over a year and a half now, and have used the junk filter since its inception. I've always had the filter settings on 'Strict' and 'Do Not Display Junk'. I've never flushed the training data.

I still get the same virus/spyware files people here mention time after time in nearly every search. Even after repeated restarts of searches (I tend to look for obscure song titles), I continue to get the same junk files. Again, this has been happening since the junk filters were added to Limewire.

Is there anything I can view (registry settings, program files, etc.) to confirm the filters are actually working? After reading others on here saying junk files never appear again after several 'trashings', I have to believe my filter isn't even functioning.

Thanks.

El Bumpo.

Is there no answer to this...?

Try using the keywordfilter in addition with the junkfilter.

Must admit I have never been much for the junkfilter. I have seen it on several occations lately mark perfectly good files as junk.

btw--the junk filters are disabled for "What's New" and "Browse Host" results.

Thanks stief.

As you may know, the spyware/virus laden files the junk filter is typically used for rarely have keywords that can be filtered out, at least when searching for audio files.

I see the total files counter on the results tab show xx/yy, implying there is a number of files being filtered. But again, with others here saying their filters work as advertised, I don't understand why mine is so ineffective.

Hi mfenech

I'm not sure what xx/yy you mean (the results tab splits a number when one of the preset flters on the side is selected). That filter is separate from the junk filter.

I had trouble using the filter when it was first introduced and recall resetting it, but in the meantime a few fixes have been implemented. However, the spammers upgrade too, and find more ways to get their junk circulating.
