Social Justice Tool

Has anyone thought about using LimeWire as a tool for social justice?

In the media Type field, you could add a 'Social Justice' type. This would be a tool for getting facts about global crises straight from the people who are there to witness them with their own personal recording devices (cell phone cameras, web cams, digital cameras, etc.).

People can stream video (from cell phone cams, etc.) of armed conflicts, disaster responses, war crimes, atrocities, and social injustices to this site for the purpose of letting the truth be known to the global community.

This could be a powerful tool for social justice, and should be considered by the people at Limewire.

Kind Regards,

Steve

And do you want to upload those files to. Since LW is just a client program which doesn't use a central server to store data. Each and every client user (reagrdless of LW, FW, Phex, Bearshrare, etc.) uses the gnutella network to connect each computer with another one (i.e. the computer [user] offering the file to share).

Though your idea seems to be noble, it is not practicable with LW or any other client using the gnutella network.

Social Justice

Thanks for your reply. Good answer. The thing is, P2P is the best way to do something like this. That way, the person who operates the central server has less say in how the information is handled/censored.

In your video search you have several types of video, in a drop down menu, to search from. You could add something like 'Social Justice' or 'Current Events' to this field. People could also post their home videos to this field for others to search. for example, in title, they can search "Rwanda" or "Israel" or "Lebanon", etc.

They could also do a general search for anything related to this field (social justice/current events), in case there is any new/developing crisis that the "media giants" are dragging their heels on.

Just an idea,

Steve
