Do Not Use Lime Wire And Ill Show U Why...

Lime Wire Has Embed AN Hidden Folder That Is Undetected From Alot Of Anti Virus Programs But This Is What You Do, Go Into You Downloaded Folder{Where All Your Stuff Goes Into} At The Top Where U See The Path Type This AT The End \_\ And Hit Enter, It Will Bring You To A Hidden Folder With Mass Virus....

Just A Heads Up Dont Need Other People Getting ****** By Lime Wire,

AaronWalkhouse July 23rd, 2006 05:06 PM

If you have a worm them blame the worm, not Limewire.
This thing is nothing like Kazaa.

The1Hero July 23rd, 2006 05:10 PM

Well Then Explain Why Everyone Who Has LimeWire Installed In There System Has This Hidden Folder And 1300-1700 viruses?

garbagefan2 July 23rd, 2006 05:12 PM

Yeah. You have a worm. When there is a file _ you downloaded a file with a worm.

AaronWalkhouse July 23rd, 2006 05:13 PM

Not everyone has it. Just the ones without adequate antivirus protection.
Are you admitting you don't have a working antivirus program? :p

garbagefan2 July 23rd, 2006 05:15 PM

No I was saying I was agreeing with you. I don't have it.

The1Hero July 23rd, 2006 05:15 PM

I do Have An Anti Virus Program But Under A Few Anti Virus Programs Its Not Detected, So Why Put A Hidden Folder With Virus In It To Infect Peoples Pcs? Thats ****** Up

Peerless July 23rd, 2006 05:16 PM

d00d..I followed your instructions exactly....there ain't no such thing on my box...

hence...you are the one who is virii infested, and you know what???

ITS NOBODY'S FAULT BUT YOURS FOR BEING STOOPID ENOUGH TO DOWNLOAD SUCH FILE TYPES...

now..take a nice deep breath...and consider this..in fact remember this:

if you choose the path of filesharing you must always be prepared to reformat and do a clean install in the worst case, and always be aware that you made the decision to download, hence it is your fault..calmy rid yourself of the virus/trojan/malware/etc, or in the worst of worst cases reformat and reinstall everything

The1Hero July 23rd, 2006 05:19 PM

Then Why On 47 Other Pcs That People Are Running LimeWire On Has This Such Folder With Virus?, Im Contacting Alot Of People On My Msn, Yahoo, Aol, IRC about It And All Are Telling Me They Have The Folder And Infected With The Viruses? EXPLAIN IT TO ME... AND TO THE<

garbagefan2 July 23rd, 2006 05:21 PM

How would you know it's a hidden folder. It's a vius from something! You could search the forums and find out its a virus! Not a hidden folder.

Sgt July 23rd, 2006 05:21 PM

Maybe you got an Iffy version from somewhere

I have never heard of anything like that with Limewire

Don't know just speculating
I do remember when I first joined the forum all the warnings about scam websites, where people were paying over the odds for it

simple explanation d00d...a LOT of ppl are infected with virii and such, if for no other reason than because they are ill prepared for real life filesharing (i.e. they have no firewall and/or no active AV scanner)...

please note that even with a good wall and scanner running in the background you are still at risk..why?, because a virus/trojan/etc has to be detected by a company, then added to their list of things to block/delete...hence, there is definitely a 'window of opportunity' in which users are vulnerable to infection (been there, done that, been infected like most others...and yeah, I've had to reformat quite a few times, and in fact I as a rule reformat/reinstall 2x a year even when things are going smoothly)

now, would you pulease stop your pulish whining and go on with life?

Sleepless July 23rd, 2006 05:25 PM

I'll explain :)

You and all the other 47 PC's have made the mistake of downloading the wrong file(s). Thus getting infected by the worm YOU downloaded

Simple enough ???

garbagefan2 July 23rd, 2006 05:28 PM

The1hero why don't you just except that you have a virus. Grow up. And to prove you wrong reformatt and download from www.limewire.com then do that symbol again and it won't be there. Ill gaurantee it.

Sleepless July 23rd, 2006 05:30 PM

WARNING: Viruses on network you should be aware of!

Sgt July 23rd, 2006 05:34 PM

He got it from download.com, why, I was right then

must be an Iffy ver, I never download anything of that site
I don't trust anything on it anymore
you only ever goto the official websites for P2P programs, otherwise you will get hit with viruses

Sgt

garbagefan2 July 23rd, 2006 05:38 PM

How do you know he got it from download.com?

TheFaithlessOne July 23rd, 2006 05:47 PM

Okay, I have to say.. I went adn tried this trick, of adding the \_\ to the end of the pathname to where my files downloaded. It brought up a hidden folder with, mind you - over 1700 viruses in it.. 1735 to be exact. I run the newest avg, as well as three other AV programs. So it isnt a worm, I think it's right through the limewire itself. I told a friend of mine and she has over 1400 in a hidden folder on hers too.
Thanx for listening
Faith

While you're at it, get a good and free antivirus program from Grisoft:

http://www.grisoft.com/doc/289/lng/us/tpl/tpl01

Peerless July 23rd, 2006 08:31 PM

hmmm....some vague memory is floating around here...a title..yeah, that's it a title...of a book...actually a play, by Shakespeare...

Much Ado About Nothing

bprsk8r4272 July 23rd, 2006 09:21 PM

\_\ i tryed adding that to my shared folder where the downloads save and the only part of that that will work is the underscore the \\ wont work in a folder name

Grandpa July 23rd, 2006 10:05 PM

The official page redirects you to download.com now.

The1Hero, TheFaithlessOne

There are allot of people that have that virus. The reason they have it is because they don't use any common sense when downloading from the net. Did you really think that when you were downloading that software program that was smaller than 1MB (851.7kb, 765.5kb, 399.0kb) that it was an actual program. Once again I will repeat what the others have said. THE VIRUS DOES NOT COME ON LIMEWIRE YOU DOWNLOADED IT FROM THE GNUTELLA NET YOURSELF WITH LIMEWIRE.

Now go to the button below my signature and click on the blue one. It will take you to Norbie's world and he will help you get rid of the virus.

Just A Heads Up Dont Need Other People Getting ****** By Lime Wire,

and people are now in panic....running to the doctor for a shot

Get a good AV like Panda 2006...there is BS in this thread

Sleepless July 24th, 2006 09:14 AM

It is not enough for people to have good AV protection

They also need to use a little bit of common sense. If they can't at least try to do that, then they will be better of uninstalling all P2P apps and disconnecting from the internet.

One thing that would be a start is if they read through some of the sticky's in this forum. And learn to look at the size of a file (not just the name)

It makes sense doesn't it?

A clever virus that makes itself undetectable and hidden ;)

Sphinx July 26th, 2006 09:41 AM

Ahhh yes, part of the reason why I hardly come here anymore. Its too easy for a noob to blame Limewire for their mistakes. I hate to tell you this but if you download Limewire from anywhere else besides the official site, YOU WILL get infected.

Downloads.com is THE WORST SITE TO GET anything from. It's full of ads and spyware. LMAO.

Strange you say that, Download.com (note no S on the end) is a very reliable 100% No Malware site.

Sphinx July 27th, 2006 02:51 PM

Whatever, either or, if you dont get Limewire from Limewire.com chances are it will be infected, hacked or cracked. Thats all I meant. I go to the offical sites only, not a third or second party crap site.

I still think it's funny you said that, as I just updated Limewire to the latest version from the official site Limewire.com and it sent me to Download.com to download the update

notchris September 18th, 2008 05:59 AM

I have a mac and I have a pc
mac runs limewire and itunes way better and without viruses
don't get me wrong I hated mac too until I observered this myself.

Soo now I use my pc for everything else except my music
the mac handles that now

plus without lime running on my pc in the background all the time everything goes 10 times faster.

All in all to be fare if there happens to be a crash or error on a mac since its linux based your best bet is to just turn it off and listen to your hard drive skip once then hope it boots again no viruses with mac even if you download the 443.9kb file that comes up with every search in limewire get a mac do it on purpose and breath easy nothing will happen mac still sux for everything else
