browsing

hey everyone, can anyone tell me why i cant browse hosts of anyone kind im not sure why its a bit strange that it has only just started thanks for any help

It depends on many factors. eg: whether they & you have free upload & download slots & bandwidth at that specific moment, net traffic, etc. It's much easier to browse someone who has Chat enabled. Some other gnutella clients are extremely difficult to browse. But be patient. In my experience, one moment I couldn't browse someone, then 10 mins later I could. One minute a browse shows they have 60 files, 15 mins later it shows 600. So browsing is not always reliable.

hey lord thanks for that i havent been able to browse anyone for days and being a patient woman i can wait lol not sure how long for though but thanks anyway

Do you have chat enabled? Also, do you have chat icon showing on your windows to see if others have chat enabled? Seeing if others have chat enabled will help you to know whether that person is potentially a good browse target. ie: right-click on the top of the column of the search results & choose to show Chat. Also do this with the download window & also the Upload window of the monitor window. More on setting this up here http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showpo...51&postcount=6

hey lord yes i have done that and there is a lot of chat icons but its not helping i still cant browse nothing at all is coming through so i tried that link but it didnt take me anywhere so is there anything else or do i have to keep patient? thanks again

Be patient I guess. :D The browse function is LW is less than superb. As said, it is easily affected by other factors. But when it works it can be very rewarding. Keep trying. Are you using the browse button or the right-click on host & choose browse? Try both! Try every 10-15 mins or even in spells of a couple of mins on some occasions. Sometimes there's enough bandwidth & openings in slots to allow a busy host to give room for browsing.
