Uploads from my system I tried searching for this but if the answer was there is was buried pretty deep. When I look at the files being uploaded from my system it seems there are 20+ people trying to get the same file. I killed the inactive but still only one or two files are being uploaded. I find this pretty strange since I share 80+ movies. Almost 1700 files in all. But, only one or two files are being uploaded by a lot of people. When I click on the show incoming searches nothing pops up at all. I am running the 4.14.4 Pro thinking it may be something in the newer version but that didn't help. Any ideas??? TIA Voo Voo Puyallup, WA |
This is nothing new & has something to do with the way the network works. I also get the same thing with loads of people wanting to downld the same few files from me despite I share 2-3 thousand. :D And yes, this seems to happen mostly with video files! ;) The view incoming searches is viewing people who search something that may in some way relate to one of your files. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. The ultrapeers who you are connected to help filter out unnecessary traffic from you. |
Thanks for the quick reply. What I did find from searching is the system decides if you are an Ultrareeper or not. Is this correct? Every once in a while I'll notice that I have a lot more then 5 connections. It's only once in a while though. About the only time I shut down LW is I see it's locked up or there is no activity, which happened when I left the original msg. It showed as connected with 15 uploads but nothing moving for close to 5 minutes. When I shut down and restarted it asked me all the info again as if I hadn't used it before. This happens a few times a month. Thanks again. |
Perhaps reduce both your uploads & downloads speeds just very lightly in your settings. Also consider this: Tip: Purge the Downloads Queue! Keep your HDD well de-fragmented; de-fragment your HDD fortnightly or monthly (or even weekly.) Make sure you have the latest Java. LW runs on Java & it is itself mostly put together using Java. There's also the option of Java 1.6 Beta which has had very good reports here & elsewhere. But it won't run with LW if you have any other java versions on your computer. So you'd need to uninstall those versions 1st. http://java.sun.com/javase/6/download.jsp JRE "Offline" version which is a 15.72 MB download. It might be worth a trial. You can always revert to Java 1.5 afterwards if it doesn't please/improve for you! ;) |
Well I must be doing good so far. I keep the D/L que empty unless something is active. The system is defragged every other day automatically. All I needed to do was upgrade to 1.6. I did notice after I restarted LW the connection were around15 or so but reduced back to 5 after a few seconds. I'll leave the system up and running and check it in the morning. Thanks again for the help. |
