you must be using the 1.8 version. sorry, but i don't know much of anything about that version of limewire, exept to stay away from it!! it seems like you should be able to configure the preferences on your original player to be the default player for all music files, but it could be that it is just not possible to bypass the limewire player...honestly, i don't know for sure because i use version 1.6.

i just read another post by a limewire developer that states how you can use a "third party player". see his post in "why use 1.8?"

Well, there is a very simple solution for your problem. Don't use LimeWire to play your mp3s. I'm currently working on a possibility for my LimeWire on linux to choose the applications I want to view different mime-types with. Maybe I'll commit it to the cvs, when it's ready and if it's not to messy (which code that I hack usually is).

Default How to disable player

In the tools menu, select options. The window that comes up has a selection called player. Un check use LimeWire and it will default to your system player default. Personally I like the built in player for previewing because it uses less memory and I dont have to wait for my default player to load. I wish they would put a movie player in.
