A technical problem???

Hi to all. I sucessfully download and install limewire. The problem is that the programme does not open. I at first o thought that i had made a mistake during the installation. I uninstall, then i reinstall the programme but the problem still exists. It can not be opened. I do not have any firewall or something like that activated. Since the instalation has been succesful, could the problem spring, grom a fault of my laptop? I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks

I would like some more information than the very brief outline you have given, I would like to know the following:

What site did you download LW from, please provide the URL.

Have you downloaded the latest version of Java and installed it, LW will not work without Java.

When downloading, did you install LW online, while connected to the internet, or did you install LW offline, i.e. downloaded it first then installed.

What version of LW have you got?

How much memory has your laptop got?

How much space do you have free on your HD?

What is the speed of your CPU?

And finally, when you downloaded LW did you downloaded it to a new directory on your laptop's HD or did you download into your Program directory/folder.

Try the offline installer for Limewire

If that is not the problem, but you figure out what's wrong. Please post the fix

I'm having problems as well (not with Limewire), but the same problem opening some newly installed programs. Tried the installers on a desktop and no problem.

Can't figure this one out

BTW I use Panda Platinum 2005. Do you by any chance use it too (may be blocking something) Can't reinstall if I uninstall since I haven't prolonged my subscription

As sleepless has advised, you should download the offline installer but never, ever download anything directly to your Program folder, as this is just asking for trouble.

Download LW to a newly created directory, disconnect your laptop from the internet then run LW from your new directory.

You will now find that it will install itself correctly, i.e. to your program folder, and now work properly.

However, I would suggest that you delete your current LW from your machine as this is corrupt and may also corrupt your new installation.

I have not advised you to reinstall Java because, unless you say otherwise, I presume this was working before.

I followed your advices but still no result. I unistalled LW and the i reinstalled

the offline edition to a separate directory. I disconnect my laptop from

internet, i then tried to open LW but i had no luck. Anyway thanks for your

suggestions. I probably try to find another way to download staff.
