Help! Movie Download Error I'm in the process of completing a rather large movie download and wanted to make sure that it is what I'm wanting. When clicking to view the preview, Windows Media Player is launched and I come up with this error message: "Windows Media Player encountered an unknown error. This can occur when another program or operating system component encounters a problem but does not communicate the nature of the problem to the Player." I'm then given the options of CLOSE or MORE INFORMATION. I might add that the more info link comes up and apologizes for not having any more info...go figure. Can anybody help me out with this or tell me what I need to do? Desperately seeking help!! |
Could be that WMP has a problem with files not rendered. You can try and download the free VLC player which comes with built-in codecs. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ Though you'll have to open the file you want to preview directly out of the "Incomplete" folder rather than with the LW Preview function. It is advisable to preview files already after 5-10%. Furthermore, using the "Lookup with Bitzi" function via right-click in the search results and choosing Advanced>Search>Lookup with Bitzi can also prevent a wrong download. How to use Bitzi http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1.../Smilywais.gif |
Thankyou! I went ahead and finished a download but wanted to make sure it was the correct thing to do. I downloaded a program called SUPER, which seems to have done the trick other than the file is very fuzzy. Are you familiar enough with this program to tell me how to clean it up a bit? |
Super is a video converter which is pretty good and flexible. I use it by myself. However, it won't be able to increase the quality of the video or repair any damage. I usually use "Videofixer" to do such things. If the quality is rather blury, then it might as well be a cam-coder video with a low resolution. Not much you could do in such a case.... http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1.../Smilywais.gif |
again, thankyou so much for your help! Signing off |
