Busted. A couple of kids down the street from me who I know real well, recently recieved a letter in the mail stating that the RIAA is sueing them for "Illegal Music Downloading" And when I asked them how many songs/videos on LimeWire they said 3000+ This is scary, because they have to pay like $100,000+ in fines, and I use LimeWire and Ares, and have close to 400 Songs/Videos. I just want to know that if I am in danger, and if the RIAA is monitoring Ares users? |
Well, the question whether you are in danger because you seem to downlaod and/or share copyright protected files can only be answered with "Yes!". Every time you break the law you will be in danger of being prosecuted and punished. Whether this danger is eminent, well, is hard to say. At the moment the RIAA and MPAA are pushing pretty hard to scare the people off of the P2P file sharing (buying out Bearshare and sueing LW). I do believe that the hound dogs of the RIAA are always around, no matter of which P2P client being concerned. There will never be any absolute protection (except not downloading and sharing protected files). http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1.../Smilywais.gif |
What do they do to kids that share illegal stuff? |
