What would you do?

Hey folks,

I've been trying for the past three months to initiate a download from a user. He is the only source for a given genre of file and I have been able to browse the collection, but any and all attempts to download a file have been met with frustration. It seems obvious now that this user is utilizing LimeWire for one way benefits. He can search and download our files, but will not return the favor.

As a PRO user, I believe we should never be blocked from each other (whether PRO or Basic) and feel this should be written into the program. I feel frustrated to know that this is happening and wonder how widespread this may be.

Are you sure that you are being blocked or that this other user is initiating one-way traffic in his direction only.

I am not sure but I believe that if you can browse someone's shared files then you can download from them. After all, there may be a 101 things preventing you from downloading from this particular user that has nothing to do with him, e.g. distance, he may be on the other side of the world with only a dial-up connection.

You should try to "chat" with this person before you jump to conclusions based on frustration, just remember that not everyone you connect to has the latest equipment as their disposal.

Also, are you sure they are using LimeWire? They might be using another program such as Shareaza which are usually difficult to connect with because they use most of their bandwidth on other networks & offer minimal if any for gnutella. Also the host might just be very popular & may only have one or 2 slots on offer which are full.
