My dowload stopped =/ HELP!

Hi.. Im new to this but i was downloading a file
and it was doing fine.. it got up to 55% but then it just kind of stopped and now the speed says.. 0 KB/s !
What is going on? What should I do?

It is probable that the host you were downloading from went off line. It is somewhat inconsiderate, you may think for them to do that, but I'm afraid it happens all the time and is one of the "joys" of file sharing. It is also possible that the host had to disconnect for a short time and may come back on shortly. Depending on the size of the file and your patience, it might be a good idea to re-search for the item, and if you find another sourse, try downloading that one instead. You could stop the download and try to resume it later, which you can do from te Limewire Library>incomplete files. If you do that and it appears as "awaiting sources" sometimes re-searching the item can kick start the download into re-starting.

BTW PLEASE do not double post I hope this helps:)

Hey..thanks so much for taking the time to reply & help me. Im real sorry for the double post, i got lost on the forum for a little, haha. I guess the host was unavailable for that time, the downloads are slowly starting back up, but at a very slow pace (I think) around 4-7 KB/s ... what do you think the average speed is? Another question..when it says "downloading from # hosts" its better to have a higher number right? Like 5-8 hosts?

The speed you get depends on your own connection speed, and that of your uploading hosts, and if their speed is slow you can't do a thing about it.

Personally I have a 400 Kilobit (Kbps) connection which equates to 50 Kilobytes (KBps) but many downoads from a single host come in at around 5KBps.

Most hosts upload speed is slower than their download speed.

With more hosts, (you can get 8 in most set ups but this can rise to 14 if you have pro AND the fastest T3 connection) one will get increased speed, and this an important feature in Limewire, but I cannot expect more than 40-50 KBps and that is on a good day with my connection speed.

Stay clear of files with huge numbers of hosts btw, they are very often spam or worse.

You can download any file from this site http://www.magnetmix.com/ and this should tell you what speed you can expect as a maximum.
