Help Opening Zipped Files (Idiot's Guide Soon)   This is really getting on my nerves. I have downloaded WinRar, WinZip, and TUGZip. None of those have opened the zipped file ive downloaded. Did I just waste 2 hours downloading a game thats 658.9 MB? I know I downloaded something. I have something here. Someone help me unzip this file. And dont reply if all you are going to say is to scan the file for viruses. I ALREADY DID THAT! If there is another extractor program I can use to extract this file, reply as soon as possible! Lets settle this "can't open zipped files" discussion once and FOR ALL! |
 |
Snowman, could you please describe the handlings you do whilst trying to unzip files? Regards, Nico (Netherlands) |
I never have this much problems. I just press extract all files. lol |
I just want to unzip the file and access the files inside. Did I not make myself clear in the first post? Why do you ask? I have used WinZip, WinRar, and TUGZip to extract the files inside. None of those worked. |
You've got an appealing way to ask others for help, don't ya think??:shoot: Won't bring you far, I guess......:annoyed: :Smilywais: |
No offence, but I came for help not critics. Don't reply to this thread if you can't help me. I'm sorry if I sound mad but, I am a little frustrated. |
I reckon you being more careful when dealing with Mods and VM's here in the forums.....and since I AM A MOD HERE !!!, I will decide when, where and what I reply........you got that?? People with your attitude can surely find help at some other place..... :Smilywais: |
OK. Can you help me here sir? I am not getting anywhere. I havent gotten a real answer to my problem. |
Well, is this the only zip file thats not opening? Or is it with all of them |
I have successfully unzipped two other files I have downloaded using Limewire and the default Windows XP extractor. |
No need to call me Sir,.....just be cool and don't scream at people willing to help you in their free time...... Since you have tried various programs, was the error message always the same? Did you try the "repair" function of winrar (works if the person who has zipped the file included a recovery log). Another good zip program would be: http://www.powerarchiver.com/ Here the link to the evaluation version: http://www.powerarchiver.com/download/ This one is also good: http://www.7-zip.org/ If all those can't open it, then you have indeed wasted time in downloading the file....... :Smilywais: |
I get the same error messages when I try to extract the file. I get "the file is" corruted, invalid, damaged, or in a different format. WinRar did not not repair it. I get "not files to repair." None of those have opened the file. |
Then you can consider the file being damaged (corrupted) beyond repair. Sorry pal,....... :Smilywais: |
Thanks anyway.:( |
