Quick Question

Ok I'm having all kinds of people from Limewire add me to their MSN, is their a way to make it so Limewire users can't see my MSN addy?

Sleepless September 5th, 2006 08:22 PM

They shouldn't be able to see your email just because you use MSN

If I were you I would seriously consider going over which files I was sharing if Limewire users see your MSN addy anywhere

Remember to look at induvidually shared files as well

Are you sure that this is through Limewire and not through some Forum that you forgot to hide your email on ?

I have it set so my files don't get shared. And the reason I know it's through Limewire is because I asked one of the people where they got my addy and they told me on Limewire. They wouldn't be able to get my addy from any froum because I don't post it.

Sounds very strange. The only way I can see for this happening in if maybe one of your friends that has your email is accidentally sharing it in some document.

If people are somehow getting your email through your Limewire this is the first I have heard of this happening.

Where did you download Limewire from ? (Slight possibility that you got a bad copy somewhere with spyware embedded into it)

Official site is www.limewire.com (Adware and Spyware free)

You are right when you say that Candice's problem is strange, I was just thinking that as she has put her full name in this forum, and not bothered with an alias as most of us have, she can't be very security minded. Which also leads me to the conclusion that she may have set up her LW incorrectly, i.e. shared her entire C:\ drive rather than just a single folder/directory.

I may be totally off base here but until she returns with further info all we can do is speculate on the cause of her problem.
