Different download speeds for different file types

Here's one.
When I download mpg files I can download from 10 hosts and can get download speeds of up to 90+.
However when I download avi files I still download from 10 hosts but download speeds are only 20 to 30.
What's going on?

It probably has more to do with the speed of the hosts your downloading from. The speed of their connection, how thin they spread their bandwidth(Number of slots/available bandwidth). The quality of the connection ect.

I can't think of any reason why avi files would download slower than mpg's.
