Wild, crazy, download burst!

Im not sure why, i had 4 movies coming in and i decided to download another movie. my limit is 14 simul. the fifth one said qued for about 30 secs, and out of nowhere, two files(14 souces) the speed jumped from about 56 KB\s to, an actually freaky rate of + 1,000KB\s, and the other 2(12, 13 sources) jumped from about 40-42 to at least 600KB\s, and they all jumped all at once. It only lasted for 5 secs then they went to normal. A 702MB file it showed to be done in 11:34. I don't no how, why,...how. Could anyone tell me why that happened, and if possible, how to keep speeds like that? The rate of bandwidth consumption passed what my bandwidth is (between cable and T1).

Are you connected to a LAN or WAN? If yes, it's possible someone else on the same lan was sharing the same videos. That is supposed to be very, very fast if it happens. Or perhaps someone else on the lan was also downldling the same videos & due to partial file sharing, you received the missing bits so much faster.
