Default Can I put media i get from limewire on my personal website??

I am wondering if I can put media I get from limewire on my personal website. With all the lawsuits going round these days I wanted to be sure what I was doing is legall or not. I looked in the policies but I couldn't find anything. I know that p2p sharing is legal but how far does that go? Oh, and the media I post on my website isn't downloadable so they would be able to view it but not download it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you aren't being very specific...

most likely the answer is no as the files 'belong' to somebody else in some fashion...if its copyrighted materials, then of course not...if its images with ppl in them, then you might find yourself prosecuted...if its 'garage band' music, then also most likely no...now, I guess if its landscape pictures you might be OK....

If what you place on your website is copyrighted material and you don't have permission from the copyright holder then it is probably illegal.(Depending on your Countries copyright laws)

I guess I was too slow. Hey where is the snail smiley

Peerless sorry I didn't explain all the details as I should have so I'll try to re-explain it. I have to build a website on a certain topic for a technology course I am taking. The topic I chose was the Chevy camaro. So I went to limewire. Downloaded a few homemovies of people driving around their camaros. Then I get asked the videos were obtained legally or not. And with all this new legislation I got confused on whether or not I could post the videos on my web site. The videos are viewing purposes only. People who vist should not be able to download them. I have not yet put the site on the internet for purposes of legality. So there is still time to change it. Anything to clarify this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

firstly...I'm not a lawyer, just a carpenter...

secondly, I have a concern that these 'home' videos may at this point be owned by some station like Spike TV™...just for giggles I'm gonna fire up BearShare and see what I can find to give you a more 'expert' opinion...

I guess ala YouTube™ you can post the vids (with a disclaimer of course) and see what happens...realistically speaking, the worst that would happen is that you would receive a DRM complaint letter and have to remove them from the webpage....and on that note, make sure to keep up with your emails about said page, as some jerkwad shark-bait lawyers are known to message at odd hours to try and catch you with your pants down...

of the ones I just sucked down, most have .com logos associated with them, and IMHO would be no-nos to post online...a couple look like legit home movies, and the one with terrible drift coming out of a corner is definitely not a pro shot (I mean really, what real show would want to show a moronic driver like that)...some of the drag footage looks very similar to footage that has a .com logo associated with it (i.e. looks like said tags got edited out)..

now, I bet if you contacted said .com site and asked, they would probably let you, and in fact might provide a better kwality file for you to use
