What file should I convert MP3's/WMA's so that they'll play on a regular CD Player?

Hi to all!
Was just wondering what converter I should use to decode audio MP3'S or WMA's etc, so that I can burn them to CD (in Windows media player) so that they will play on a regular CD player.
There are loads of converters on the internet but i'm not sure what file to convert them into as there are so many... I just want it to play like a regular CD.
I did burn some OGG files (these were already in OGG format and free to the public and legal) straight to CD on windows media player ages ago (before I knew that there were different files types)and they played fine on my CD player.... Is this the file type i need to convert to?
Maybe sum1 cud suggest a good free converter?
Thanks!:Smilywais:

WMP (Windows Media player) should convert them automaticly before burning. At least it did when I last used it (+1 years ago).

If there is still an option that says burn audio CD in WMP, it should open a burnlist that you add songs to, and press you press burn, it will first say checking, then converting (or something like that) and then burn the CD as a normal audio CD.

WMP does not support id3-tags (the info on the files). So the result when playing the burned disk will only say track 1, track 2 etc.

Other burn programs like Nero will write the info on the CD as well. In case you have that program, there is a thread in the Gnutella forums Tips and tricks (Not the one in the Limewire forum)

Thanks sleepless.... you are right (as usual, lol!), I feel like a right thicko as after I posted my query I got to thinking about when I burned the OGG files... anyhow I just checked out WMP and Realplayer, and they both have the option for burning audio CD rather than data cd for whatever file you use!
It's just that this is the first time i've thought about converting the files as I usually just stick em straight into my MP3 player. DOH!:bangh:
I just thought it was luck when I burned the OGG files onto a disc and it worked... unbeknown to me that WMP had done the converting for me.
Cheers.

Well. Think of it this way. The moment you stop questioning and learning, your life is probably pretty dull ;)

It really wasn't such a stupid question, when considering that you never tried it before. Also you ask questions the right way (providing lots of info), which makes them fairly easy to answer.

AW, thanks for making me feel real brainy now... he he!
Although sometimes I wonder when I write these questions how on earth anyone can understand what i'm goin on about... so then I try to spell it out so that even I can just about understand myself! See... now i'm confusing myself again.
Anyway... thanks for your help, its always nice to have confirmation before I go and experiment with this stuff! It helps give me confidence :o)
Now I am a happy bunny... and I shall be out buying some blank CD's first thing tomorrow, hopefully knowing that I wont magically transform them all into coasters!
Cheers, & go get sum sleep!
