Current hosts number

Why is it that I can never see the current hosts number of the network? Am I doing something wrong?

Yeah, man. Mine are: A Night At The Opera, Live At Wembley '86 and The Miracle.

BTW: does anybody know why this happens?

The new version of LimeWire will display statistics in the title bar at the top when you are not a leaf node (are not connected to an UltraPeer. This is because the messages needed for those statistics are not sent to leaf connections.

That said, I also just want to point out that we originally took out those readings in LimeWire 1.8 because they were really, really innaccurate. This was not through any fault of our own, but simply because it's very difficult to obtain accurate statistics for a fully distributed network like Gnutella. While it would be possible to get better statistics, its just not a priority, and the extra messages would take up more bandwidth, resulting, of course, in slower downloads.

Hope everyone has a happy holidays -- I'll be on vacation until the middle of January, so I won't be able to participate for awhile.

Ultrapeer

I just recently downloaded the newest version of Limewire (2.02?). Everytime I connect I get an ultra peer connection. I even disable it in my options but alas still connect.

The problem is my searches are coming up empty. I can do a search for MP3 and will only get back about 300 results.

YES! I have the same problem. Only if I search for ****ing do I get more than a few hundred results. I have Mac 9.0.4, and Limewire 2.0.2, and I show only one host under the connections tab. HELP!

If you are in client (or so called "leaf" mode) , you are supposed to have only 1 connection anymore .
The one to the Ultrapeer .

And that it shows only 1 host anymore in the host count ...
Well , the LW crew is still weeding out the bugs .
If you get results , you can be sure that that UltraPeer is well-connected .
