help...converting avi to dvd ??????
 

i was curious if anyone knows the best and fastest way to convert .avi movies files to dvd files. ie. .vob .vts ect. everything ij've tried takes hours per movie.

Converting to dvd compatible files with appropriate info file is a long process. It's normal for it to take many hours. Video files are quite complex creatures & are not the fool's easy conversion unless you want a quick & nasty quality conversion.

WinAvi, if you want to spend some money,.....

Winavi is a good converter or most burning software like nero,roxio but what i found out is most of these programs depend on your processor the faster the processor the faster the transcoding:Smilywais:

For some people, burning AVI's directly to disc is not an option (unless you just want to store them or view them on your computer later).

Try this: google 'DivX DVD player' and browse the results.

There are many DVD players out there that play multiple file formats.

You can get a DivX player from Wal-Mart for under $40.

The downside? The cheaper the player, the faster it will wear out. My buddy at work told me he buys a new player every year.

My player supports divx & mpeg2, etc. & was cheaper than the "name" brands but isn't a short-life machine afaik. The electronics store had the player custom designed by their specifications & since I'm a member, get it for an even better price. A fraction of the price of name brands that claim to play all but are usually even still limited in some way ... until the next model comes out ... which is usually even still limited in some way ... until the next model comes out ...

Just burn as a data disk if you have such a player & such files. I've had a 10+ hr music video dvd disk made from mpeg 4 & divx files.

If you have Nero this is no problem it takes a while but it will convert to dvd and will play on most dvd players I have a Panasonic dvd player/recorder(about $179) probally cheaper now it plays the most formats out there +or-R and + or -RW disk including Ram disks.wont play divix disk though, thats why I use Nero(use nerovision not nero burning rom. for free download goto http://www.Nero.com) Win Avi will work also but you still need a burning program.meani:
PS you can get serial if you look elsewhere otherwise 30 days (for 7.5.09) not at liberty to say where and don't ask.

Thanks for the info :Smilywais: I haven't tried NeroVision, and haven't been impressed with the AVI to DVD programs I've tried.
