Downloads freezing, have to shut down Hi, I've been using Limewire for some time now and everything has been going just fine. A few days ago my downloads started to suddenly freeze and I had to shut down. They then restarted again when I reopened Limewire a few seconds later. Now it is happening every 30 mins - 1 hour and I'm finding it hard to download anything at all. Some downloads will not restart. Anyone got a clue what the hell is going on??? I have tried reinstalling several times to no avail and even switching off Norton Security, but this doesn't help either. I have windows XP media centre.:bangh: |

Sorry but BearShare is a different program. I merged your 2nd post into this one which is in the LimeWire section. |
Yep and it was posted a third time too .... <sigh> |
Not any more. Ok ... aptsuk try these things: 1. Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.) 2. Tip: Purge the Downloads Queue! 3. Reduce shares if they are over 2,000 4. Uninstall all Java versions using the add/remove control panel. Then reinstall using only the "Offline" installer which is about a 15 MB download: http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp 5. Go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Speed & disable Ultrapeer Capabilities. 6. Reduce both the upload & download bandwidth speed by about 10-15% each 7. Don't use the Resume button on all incomplete files. This can have side-fx such as affect LW's connection quality. May queue your files for much much longer. This will also stress LW & your comp. If you use Resume/Find sources then just apply it to a couple or so at one time. |
