a program: Lime Wire file Manager

a little program i made to make my life a little easier.

it counts and categorises the files in your download folder, then at a click of a button it will move those files to a folder you would have already specified in the configuration.

so as the attached image indicates, when i click on:

Films - Move to DIR , the films are moved to another hard drive or network resource and removed from my downloads folder

music - Move to DIR , all music, wav, mp3, wma etc are moved to my music on another hard drive or network resource

like i said i made this just to make my life a little easier. if there is any interest in it, i will code it further with more information

Sounds good. What language was it programmed in? Is it only for windows? How large would the program be?

Brad.G November 30th, 2006 03:17 AM

its programmed in C++

Less than 100 KB in size

the librarys i have used in this project i think are win32 specific, although it shouldnt be too hard to find out which librarys would be required for say, linux.

Seems like a very useful add-on, so the next suggestion should be that LW allow useful add-ons to be added on.

Just one more thing, in your screen print you have a category called "Films", I would also like one called "Film Clips" to separate complete (whole) films from snippets or scenes.

On the whole though, I very good idea that should be incorporated within LW.

it would be a case of differentiating between the two.. as the file extensions would be the same, it could be coded to filter file sizes... files less than X MB would be classed as a clip im working on a version for use with shareaza also which has some extra functions for maintenance of the application. if anyone knows of any "FAQ's" with solutions and you feel it could be automated, then please post it here.

ive attached an image of the shareaza tool to give you some ideas,
the first tool deletes a couple of files from the data file in the shareaza directory as theres a common issue with the application freezing while trying to load the library files.

the second tool ( may have the same bearing with limewire? ) patches a .sys file which is in place if you have XP SP2, which limits connections to 10.. the patch changes this to 50 thus increasing transfer speeds..

Add-On for LimeWire

Just a thought on my "Film Clips" vs "Films" idea, wouldn't it be easier to have "Film Clips" and "Films" as user's choice rather than trying to code in the differences?

And I also love this idea for LW

If this tool was available for LW I would download it in a heartbeat.

Brad.G, as far as I am concerned, you are the MAN of the hour, just tell me (and the forum members) when and where the Second Tool will be available.

Yours, in eager anticipation

That 50 connections patch, you should work more on. When Limewire starts to use Torrents (already in the Beta) more than 50 connections are needed/preferred for faster connections with good routers.

Work the EviD Patch into the program (Does the same thing as yours except it gives the user the choice of how many connections he/she wants.)

Otherwise, quite like the idea for new users. All these things are easily done seperately, but it would help a lot to have them in a program.

Bob

it will be ready and released soon. im very picky with my code and like to test it thoroughly before releasing it to the public :rolleyes_2:

ive had a look at this tool, and coding it to allow you to specify the connection number is not much of an issue, however 100 is pretty much the limit. after this the system can become unstable

Yes, but 50 is not enough, when running Limewire together with e.g. Azureus. I have mine set on 80. Some even prefer 100 (I think that's overkill, but of course running other programs as well may require a higher limit for optimum performance)

sorry i should have worded that sentence better. i ment it in the context of coding it to allow you to specify the number of the connections will be easy and i will do
