Sound wierd after download

OSX4.8/G5/dual/2.0ghz/2gigRAM/

I have a few ***** ******* videos downloaded. Some, when I try to play through MPlayerOSX, sound like metal scratching across a metal surface.

Is this a case of me not playing the movie at the correct setting?
Is there a way to convert the movie to play. Some begin fine, then break into the screeching.

Go to the main index
https://www.gnutellaforums.com/
& then find the section you want to post in (just click on one of the sections or sub-forums). Once you're in the right place, you'll see 'New Thread' in the top left corner...click on that button to start a new thread. When you've written your post, click on 'Submit' & you're done:D

Maybe this has nothing whatsoever to do with the topic, but I have a problem. You see, I downloaded a Christmas song, but when I tried playing it in WMP 9, I got an error message saying it couldn't play the file because of the possibility of it being corrupted, and it's an MP3. I feel like screaming.
