Does Limewire give some users better speeds?

I've noticed in my upload monitor that I will upload to some people at 5kbps while other people at 30kbps, and I was wondering if limewire gives bonuses to people for various things, such as, upload speed, number of files shared, client their using, etc..

I think

I Think in some cases they Do like if you had DSL it might give a little more boost but also depends on how many users your downloading from to.

Limewire is not a server it's a p2p app which means it connects you to other computers all over the world. Uploading can depend on how much bandwidth you have allocated as well as how the uploaders download speed is..
This can have many factors such as ISP's, firewalls, if they have dial up, cable, dsl and if they have configured their limewire properly..

There are definitely no bonuses attached to it...:rolleyes_2:

I know that it's fairly decentralized, but I was thinking that the client might check various things from the clients it's connecting to, and give priority to certain users. The "allow freeloaders" option shows that this is definetely possible, but I wasn't sure if limewire implemented anything like that or not.

Take a look at this thread (and follow link by Wondering Why)...it's not so easy to tell if someone is a freeloader or not!

http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...ht=freeloaders

P.S. What kind of 'things' would you want to know about me? Which users would you give priority to?

It just looks like some users I'm uploading to get more priority than others, so I was just curious what limewire was doing.

As far as what users to get priority too... I guess that I'd give some priority to users that were currently uploading while their downloading; give priority to people who are sharing files vs people who arent; and give major priority to people who are currently uploading to my client and downloading from me at the same time.
