A download keeps reappearing I have been an avid limewire user and this porn download keeps appearing everytime a start limewire. I tried everything and looked at other forums and I cannot get to the bottom of this. Could someone give me an idea where to start. I tried deleting viruses and a bunch of other stuff. Is there anyone? |
similar problem Hi I recently have had a porn show up on my incomplete files which everyone in my house denies ever downloading. Before I start blaming people, I just wanted to check and see if anyone has had the same problem. |
eemeesung do you mean it keeps appearing in your search results or it's downloaded and sitting in your LW library...If it's the latter I'd suggest you run a virus and spyware scan... WARNING: Viruses on network you should be aware of! If it still won't go away and your scans come up clean try these fixes... http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showpo...83&postcount=8 RachelAnn, It could of been downloaded by mistake, alot of files are misnamed on the network...In case it is something fishy I also recommend you run a full AV and spyware scan as well just to be safe... |
When I first noticed it it was in that little box underneath the search results where it shows the progress of your downloads. It was listed as an incomplete download. Now it's in the library's file for incomplete downloads. Do you know how long a file will stay listed as an incomplete download before it disapears? Ive had incomplete downloads before and it seems like they went away on their own pretty fast. Also, how do I run an AV and spyware scan? |
wonder why, It is not in the library yet. It is a download that sets a file in the incomplete folder and automatically regenerates when limewire starts back up. It never goes away. But Im going to try a couple of things i didnt do that you have mentioned. But I ran AV, I have symantic corporate edition. Its supposed to be good, my school gives it out. But we shall see..... |
The incomplete file is in your Limewire library yes so it can be deleted from there, but it is also in your files on your system aswell, it will nestle in a folder called incomplete under your documents folders, or sometimes in your program files, this is how viruses enter your system through the backdoor, get the filename and run a windows search for the file and delete it from there. You can easily stop it re-starting by going to Limewire library and at the bottom is incomplete, go to the file highlight it and the options will then show up to delete or restart d/load |
Also RachelAnn go here http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showthread.php?t=38705 and scroll down for my post about anti-virus and spyware |
